Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Members

The course aims to offer students a fundamental background in the behavior and design of reinforced concrete (RC) members with an appreciation of the practical aspects of reinforced concrete design. The course will cover the mechanical properties of concrete and reinforcing steel, behavior and design of RC members, such as beams subjected to pure bending (flexure), shear and torsion, and short and slender columns subjected to combined axial force and bending, design of continuous beams, bond and anchorage, and serviceability. Introduction to earthquake-resistant design and detailing of reinforced concrete beams and columns.
