Theory of Structures

The course aims to offer students a thorough knowledge of structural analysis methods for statically determinate and indeterminate structures with an appreciation of the physical significance of the analytical results. The course covers several structural systems, such as trusses, beams, frames, and cables. The course includes energy-based deflection calculations, force and displacement analysis methods, and matrix (computer) structural analysis. These concepts are discovered/taught through a project-based and modular teaching model; the students connect the theory to real-life problems.
